Timber View, a residential quarter with 7 buildings and a total of 184 flats, is being built in a prime waterfront location in the customs port of Mainz. A green gate marks the main access to the quarter from the Loop. Adapted shipping containers are placed along the passageways from the inner courtyard to the adjacent harbour basin to the south, which can be used by the residents collectively as harbour lodges and are reminiscent of the harbour’s history. The innovative energy concept for Timber View relies on district heating, air-to-air heat pumps and photovoltaics on the green roofs, thus ensuring the greatest possible independence from oil and gas. In addition to the prescribed 149 parking spaces for cars, the underground car park also offers sufficient space for bicycles and a mobility point for sharing services such as e-bikes or cargo bikes.
