Supervisory Board Committee nominates Peter Schaller as Member of the Management Board. Full Management Board is appointed for 5 years.
Vienna, 24 August 2023 – The Nomination Committee for the Supervisory Board of UBM Development AG today nominated Mr Peter Schaller as the fourth member of the Management Board of UBM Development AG for the term of 1 November 2023 to 31 October 2028. At the same time, the committee proposed the extension of the Management Board contracts for Thomas G. Winkler (CEO), Martina Maly-Gärtner (COO) and Patric Thate (CFO) prematurely by five years, until 20 April 2028. Extension of their term of office would otherwise have been on the agenda only for 2026. The respective resolutions will have to be passed in the Supervisory Board meeting on 21 September 2023.
“These decisions provide the necessary stability in the top management at UBM, and also place us in a position to deal ideally with the current turbulent phase on the real estate market while also setting the course for the future,” comments Karl-Heinz Strauss, Chairman of the Supervisory Board. Peter Schaller will be responsible for all technical affairs at UBM from 1 November 2023, including the areas of Timber Construction, Green Building and Quality Management. Peter Schaller: “I am looking forward to this new role and the challenge of continuing to position UBM as a developer with outstanding expertise in executing projects, especially in the area of timber construction.
Despite the current difficult situation on the real estate market, UBM is executing a series of major projects in Austria and Germany, such as the LeopoldQuartier and Timber Factory. The LeopoldQuartier in Vienna will be Europe’s first urban quarter built with timber. Timber Factory will be Munich’s first timber commercial campus. “I am happy that Peter Schaller will soon contribute technical expertise at management board level, which also avoids any kind of gap,” remarks Thomas G. Winkler.
Peter Schaller studied industrial engineering for construction at the Technical University in Graz. He is a renowned construction expert and most recently headed operations for Porr in Graz. Following positions in Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovenia and Germany, Peter Schaller has held management positions at Porr in Styria since 2007. He is a member of the Federation of Austrian Industries (iv) in Styria, the Executive Board of the Economic Forum of Managers (WdF) and Vice-President of SK STURM GRAZ.
