Vienna/Mainz, 12.02.2019. UBM Development Deutschland GmbH is constructing an ensemble of buildings with a residential complex consisting of 82 residential units and a directly adjacent Super 8 Hotel with 216 rooms in the centrally located Zollhafen Mainz.
Today, the developer of the Super 8 Hotel in Inge-Reitz-Straße 1 and the adjacent residential building WATERKANT Mainz at Rotterdamer Platz 2-8, 55120 Mainz, celebrated the topping-out ceremony together with Michael Ebling, Lord Mayor of the state capital Mainz. The topping-out wreath was lifted to music in the presence of more than 200 invited guests from business and politics, as well as other parties involved in the project.
Dr. Bertold Wild, CEO of UBM Development Deutschland GmbH, emphasized the attractiveness of the Zollhafen Mainz development area. “The urban quarter of the future adds additional value to Mainz through modern living, working and leisure spaces in a beautiful waterfront location not far from the city centre. The size of the development area allows a major step forward in modern urban planning. Residential project WATERKANT
The WATERKANT project, with a gross floor area of 10,083 m², is under construction on Rotterdamer Platz on the Hafenallee II plot in the customs port of Mainz. Two of three building blocks, which form a triangle from a bird’s eye perspective, have 82 condominiums with sizes ranging from 30 m² to 117 m² and 48 underground parking spaces. They will be completed in the second quarter of 2020. Each apartment has a terrace or loggia. A red brick façade adorns the exterior of the six-storey building block. The façade sections of the green inner courtyard are plastered in modern white tones. The attractive location by the water and the view of the water give the apartments their special flair.
SUPER 8 Hotel
The third building is the new Super 8 Hotel and is located directly adjacent to the residential development on the same plot in Zollhafen. The 216 rooms of the 2-star category are spread over 5 floors and also have a brick façade typical of the port. 230 m² of commercial space will be created in a part of the ground floor with the possibility of a corresponding use. With the Zollhafen tram station in the immediate vicinity, the area is well connected to the public transport network.
UBM Development Deutschland GmbH, which sold the building to Württembergische Lebensversicherung in January 2019 for EUR 24 million, is aiming for DGNB certification in silver. Construction of the Super 8 Hotel began in the fourth quarter of 2017 and will be completed in the first quarter of 2020. The Super 8 Hotel will be operated by GS Star GmbH.
The planning office Turkali Architekten, Frankfurt, prevailed with its concept in the qualification process against six other well-known offices. UBM Development is also developing and constructing the Hafeninsel V and IV residential projects in the immediate vicinity of the hotel building. These are scheduled for completion in 2020/21 and are being developed in a joint venture with CA Immo.
