Vienna, 19.06.2023 – The new composition of the VBV-Österreichischer Nachhaltigkeitsindex (VÖNIX) was presented today, and UBM Development AG was again included in this Austrian sustainability benchmark. The announcement was made by rfu, VBV-Vorsorgekasse and the Vienna Stock Exchange after their annual review in accordance with the index requirements. “We are very pleased to be represented in the VÖNIX for another year. For all of us at UBM, sustainability is an attitude,“ explained Thomas G. Winkler, CEO of UBM Development AG.
Listing in the Vienna ESG Segment
Stock exchanges play a central role in the green transformation of the economy through their actions to direct capital flows towards sustainable corporate activities. UBM is represented in Vienna’s ESG Segment with its sustainability-linked bond 2021-2026 and the hybrid bond 2021. “UBM has already converted a quarter of a billion euros on the capital market to green finance, and we are currently working on the issue of our first green bond,“ added Patric Thate, CFO of UBM.
Also highly regarded in international ESG ratings
UBM was rated Platinum by EcoVadis, which represents the highest evaluation awarded by the company. This places UBM among the top one per cent of the 100,000 companies ranked by EcoVadis. UBM Development was also classified under “Prime Status“ (Level “B-“) by the international rating agency ISS ESG, which makes the company the most sustainable in its branch in Germany and Austria. In addition, CDP gave UBM a Note B rating for its commitment to the fight against climate change.

VBV-Österreichischer Nachhaltigkeitsindex (VÖNIX) is a capitalisation-weighted price index. The base universe comprises stocks that trade in the prime or standard market of the Vienna Stock Exchange and can demonstrate sufficient free float and trading volume. As one of the first national sustainability indexes, the VÖNIX has been calculated since 2005.
